Let me just start out by saying I'm not looking for a replica debate.

Sorry this is going to be long. I just want there to be no misunderstanding. Ok now on to the questions.

group order from Taobao

Hello everyone,

I know it's short notice, but I thought I'd throw it out here anyway. I'm planning on placing an order for some lolita items through TaobaoSpree at the end of the month and am open to turning it into a group order if anyone else would like to purchase something (something not lolita, even! There's BJD stuff on TB, too); it's much easier to split international shipping costs between two or three people. Let me know as soon as possible if you'd like to join in. I prefer being contacted by email; haruhara_raharu at yahoo dot com I'll be placing the order next Friday (Aug. 31st).

(Note to mods: My apologies in advance if this is an inappropriate post for the group; please delete it if you need to.)

August meetup?

Hi everyone,

Shall we start thinking about an August meetup? July's proposed picnic and bocce would still be fun this month though we've got a nice bank of ideas to choose from (I think I recall someone mentioning a swap meet?). Are Tuesdays still good? Weekends?

meetup!

It was great to meet everyone who came to the meetup! I had a lot of fun and can't wait for the next one. Shall we start brainstorming ideas? An activity followed by food/drink seems like a good plan and with long summer days we can probably do something similar again in the coming weeks. Or since we're all apparently massive geeks, maybe we can organize around that. There's a local steampunk convention happening in July (at the downtown Sheraton Hotel, I think). I won't be going myself but maybe there's enough people interested to make a showing at it.

A few meetup ideas that come to mind:
-movie night
-antiquing
-artsy craftsy get-together
-potluck dinner or brunch (or cook together if someone's got a large kitchen they feel like volunteering)
-brand show n tell
-organize a group order
-ghost stories (more of a Halloween thing)
-service project

Anyone else have suggestions? Are there any festivals or SLC/Provo/Ogden area events that sound interesting?

Birthday: May 28th
Lolita Style: Classic Lolita
Favorite Brands: Innocent World!!!
Hobbies: Reading, crochet, embroidery, makeup, costuming, cosplaying, historical reenactment, singing.
When and how did you find Lolita?
Wow, I feel so old now! I think it was my second year of college (about 3 years ago or so). I found a video of some Swedish lolis on youtube. I was lucky enough to find reliable sites like egl on Livejournal and lolitafashion.com. I loved the idea of modesty and cuteness, and since I've always loved old-fashioned clothing I was totally hooked!
Any ambitions or dreams to share?
Well, there's this one where I fly...no, just kidding. ;-) Ambitions...I just want to be a teacher, eventually find a guy who's willing to put up with me and love it, and to be a great mother and wife. As for dreams...someday I'd like to write a book, be in a play, swim with a mermaid tale and sing with some awesome group. Not asking too much, am I? XD
What's something unique about you?
I don't like sweet cream cheese. Seriously, cheesecake, frosting...I can taste if it has cream cheese in it. Blech. Savory stuff like dips and sauces, I don't mind it. Weird, huh?
What's one thing you'd like your fellow Lolitas in this comm to know?
I'd like them to know not to be afraid to come to me with questions. I'm not a total expert, but I'm not scary and I love helping people. They should expect an honest opinion, but always with kindness. I'm a really nice person at heart, and we were all new to lolita once.
What's one item you're lusting after for your Lolita wardrobe?
Just one?! There's a purse from Innocent World I need soon. I have a passion for their book purses, and they just came out with a new rose print one. I want it in white. No, I will have it in white! Someday!
Hope to see you at out next meet up!

Are you there?  We were a bit disappointed at the lack of response to our first (March 2012) newsletter, specifically when asking for feedback concerning the timing of the May meetup and the Community Spotlight. Have we done something wrong? Can we do something better? Please let us know!
April is a great time! Flowers are beginning to bloom, and now is the time to bust out your florals and baby animal prints! Spring is all about new life, so incorporate that into your outfits. Give yourself 'new life' by doing something relaxing you've wanted to do but haven't had time for in a while. Take a nice walk, have a bubble bath, paint, craft...whatever helps you to unwind so that you're ready to face the days ahead with new vigor!Feel free to post about your relaxation techniques over at our LiveJournal community. It needs some new life, too!
Announcements:
--Upcoming Meetup: Nihon Matsuri Saturday, April 28th 12 pm - 3 pm, SLC. Come to the Japan Festival with us! Please see the RSVP post on LiveJournal or email us to let us know if you're coming. We want to know who we'll see!
--Upcoming Meetup: Our Annual Hogle Zoo and Grand America Tea in May! Celebrate u_loli's birthday with animals, tea, and a fun small gift exchange! Zoo admission is $10, Tea charge is $30 (actual price is $20, but as we went over that last time we are charging $30 and refunding any overcharge). Note: Grand America tea does serve non-tea beverages such as hot cocoa, etc. Please respond with dates of availability in May as we want as many people as possible to be there!
--We're thinking of putting in a Community Spotlight segment to help us get to know everyone even if they can't make it to all the meetups. It would include some general bio information, favorite style/brand information, and a picture. We would contact you for the info and ask your permission before spotlighting you. What do you think: yeah or nay?
Community Spotlight would go here...but we don't know if we're having one. ;-P
Hope to see you at Nihon Matsuri!
