April Newsletter

April 2012 Newsletter
From the Mods:
Are you there?  We were a bit disappointed at the lack of response to our first (March 2012) newsletter, specifically when asking for feedback concerning the timing of the May meetup and the Community Spotlight. Have we done something wrong? Can we do something better? Please let us know!
April is a great time! Flowers are beginning to bloom, and now is the time to bust out your florals and baby animal prints! Spring is all about new life, so incorporate that into your outfits. Give yourself 'new life' by doing something relaxing you've wanted to do but haven't had time for in a while. Take a nice walk, have a bubble bath, paint, craft...whatever helps you to unwind so that you're ready to face the days ahead with new vigor!Feel free to post about your relaxation techniques over at our LiveJournal community. It needs some new life, too!
--Upcoming Meetup: Nihon Matsuri Saturday, April 28th 12 pm - 3 pm, SLC. Come to the Japan Festival with us! Please see the RSVP post on LiveJournal or email us to let us know if you're coming. We want to know who we'll see!
--Upcoming Meetup: Our Annual Hogle Zoo and Grand America Tea in May! Celebrate u_loli's birthday with animals, tea, and a fun small gift exchange! Zoo admission is $10, Tea charge is $30 (actual price is $20, but as we went over that last time we are charging $30 and refunding any overcharge). Note: Grand America tea does serve non-tea beverages such as hot cocoa, etc. Please respond with dates of availability in May as we want as many people as possible to be there!
--We're thinking of putting in a Community Spotlight segment to help us get to know everyone even if they can't make it to all the meetups. It would include some general bio information, favorite style/brand information, and a picture. We would contact you for the info and ask your permission before spotlighting you. What do you think: yeah or nay?
Community Spotlight would go here...but we don't know if we're having one. ;-P
Hope to see you at Nihon Matsuri!

My availability dates for May haven't changed (unavailable weekends due to Ren Faire vending), though I *will* be in town for Nihon Matsuri! I'm heading off to CA tomorrow instead of at the end of the month. Yeah, soooo excited. :) I'll go place an RSVP on the other post.

I think a community spotlight would be nice. Getting to know people a little bit is helpful when trying to build in-person meeetups, I think.

I'll be at the Ren Faire all 3 weekends...I'm part of the Court, yay! ^_^ So if you let me know where you'll be I'll be sure to say hi! ^_^

So happy you'll be able to make it for Matsuri!

I probably won't be able to attend the April meetup as that's right before finals, but my May should be pretty free after the 6th. I'm trying to get a job right now but in theory if I do get it I shouldn't start working until June.

Hi! Just wanted to say that my husband and I will be trying to come to the meet-ups. The April one we have another engagement (Repti Con) but we will try to hit that up first thing in the morning and then head over to the meet up.

For May, we'll be in Seattle, WA from the 12th - 15th, however I will probably be taking the Friday before, the 11th off of work to get ready for our trip and I have a Cousin's wedding that evening, so perhaps that afternoon would work?? I know that weekends are out, but if that doesn't include Fridays, that is what would work best for me and my husband (he works swing/graveyard shifts and goes to school Mon-Thurs)

Basically at this point I can't make any solid commitments, but I just wanted to let people know that I haven't fallen off the face of the planet or something.

Also I may convince my Husband to create a LJ account so that he can officially join the group XD.

I'm in the same boat as bibliobhulabalo, and can't make it to the meet up this weekend due to finals.

As for the May meet up, I think most of the days I can make it are on Tuesdays and Sundays. Wednesdays might be okay, if we finish by 5 pm?

I think the community spotlight's a good idea. I haven't been able to make it to many meetings, so I feel like they might help let us know each other in case of that? Or something.
